About Meld

Who we are

Meld is a collection of community-minded makers, ranging from dabbling hobbyists to full-time artists, all working out of a shared studio space in the heart of Baltimore.

We are a welcoming and inclusive space for folks who want to create around other creative people. We lift each other up, share ideas, and support each other's artistic endeavors. We're always excited to see everyone's latest project and happy to share tips and tricks with each other.

In our studio, you'll see people working on projects of all kinds of mediums — clay, wood, fabric, fiber, acrylic paints, watercolor, pens, paper, and more.

Where we came from

Meld was founded by one of its members, Amanda, who sought out a place to create art with and around other people. As someone who struggled to find time to prioritize hobbies, she found that setting aside dedicated time in a dedicated space enabled her to gain the benefits of body-doubling, helping to restore a more healthy work-life balance. She firmly believes that we are better together and knows that some of the best ideas come from collaborating with others.

What began as a humble pottery studio of two that shared a small amount of equipment and space has blossomed into a multi-disciplinary maker studio that supports art of many mediums.

Because our roots are in ceramics, you'll find many potters in our midst. However, we welcome folks of other artistic disciplines and are eager to provide a welcoming artistic community to potters and non-potters alike.
