Join us for a special collaboration with local ceramicist Ashley Starace for a Filipino Vase Carving Workshop!

In this workshop you will receive a pre-made clay vase or tumbler cup and Ashley will guide you through carving designs into your piece, inspired by tribal Filipino motifs. At the start of class, Ashley will present the traditional Filipino designs sharing their symbolism and meanings. She will also give a basic introduction to Baybayin, an ancient pre-colonial script. You will be able to put together words or phrases and tribal designs that correspond to specific regions of the Philippines. Then we will trace them onto your vase/cup and carve away!

Ashley has taken the time to study her cultural heritage and she is excited to share it with anyone who wants to learn more about Filipino art! We hope you can join this workshop, take a deep dive into learning together, and come away with a beautiful ceramic piece for your home.

Instructor glazing is included in your ticket for a single color. If you'd like to decorate and glaze your piece with more details, you can register for a glazing session dated 2 or more weeks after your workshop to come back and glaze it yourself. This is a great option for folks who have intricate glazing designs in mind or who want to learn about the glazing part of the process.

Finished pieces will be available approximately 4 weeks after the workshop date.

Tickets are non-refundable if cancelled within 72 hours of the event. However, we'd be happy to transfer your tickets to a friend for you!
